A stunning romantic getaway for two, this unique property overlooks the historic town of Alnwick and provides fantastic holiday accommodation for keen walkers exploring this beautiful part of Northumberland. Set in an elevated spot with far-reaching views, this wonderful Grade II-listed tower has a range of unusual and quirky features, including stone walls, a spiral staircase, wooden beams and impressive arched windows. Close to the heart of the town, the tower has been imaginatively renovated and designed, and is a wonderful bolthole for couples discovering the area’s beautiful coastlines, quaint villages and spellbinding countryside.

Entering the tower, a very narrow and steep stone spiral staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find the stylish open-plan kitchen/diner with light flooding in via the large arched windows. The kitchen has a fantastic range of equipment with a central island ideal for enjoying breakfast, along with a separate dining table perfect for a romantic candlelit meal. Stairs lead up to a snug mezzanine with a cushioned window seat, bookcase and views on all four sides. A separate flight of stone stairs winds up from the kitchen to the cosy second-floor lounge with views of Alnwick Castle from the Gothic-style eastern window. With plenty of seating and a Smart TV, the lounge is a perfect space to snuggle up to enjoy a favourite movie. This floor also features the stylish bathroom. A final mezzanine level wraps around two sides of the tower, overlooking the lounge, and offering the relaxing super-king-size bed.

Alnwick has a bustling market, a choice of independent shops and friendly pubs. The town is known for its castle and the superb Alnwick Garden with its treehouse restaurant. Along the coast you can also visit Dunstanburgh Castle, Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum, and Warkworth Castle (all within 10 miles).

The tower provides a unique, unforgettable experience and is ideally located in the heart of Alnwick. Definitely not a place for anyone with mobility issues as the steep spiral staircase is something of a challenge. Plenty of free parking close by and very convenient for pubs and restaurants.

What a fantastic holiday let. From first looks to the views it was by far the best we have stayed in. Yes there are lots of stairs and the spiral staircase has to be taken carefully with bags but once inside you feel like a king or queen. The layout really works. So much to do in the area. Fabulous Tower, great fun to stay in, comfortable, warm, very clean, well equipped and tastefully furnished. Great views out over the town and castle. There are a lot of steps, it's a tower! Fantastic location, beautiful building and nicely presented. We would consider staying again but in warmer months than Jan! Do heed the warning about the steps, they are very steep! Overall a wonderful building though

We thoroughly enjoyed our quirky tower stay. We had one issue with the heating which was dealt with really quickly and our stay was super toasty after this. All the necessary amenities, very comfy bed! The location is just perfect.

Pottergate Tower is a very unusual property to rent - but it was stunning. a real treat to stay in. It is in the best position in Alnwick, so central and close to the Castle. The stairs were both a novilty and workout, carrying items between the floors in bags helped. Everything we needed was supplied, it was clean, airy and certainly diffeerent. The Tower is in a great location but I didnt feel comfortable staying there alone as the kitchen is on a separate floor to the living area, toilet and bedroom and even though I consider myself a physically fit person the narrow stone stairs were a challenge just to carry a glass of wine or a cup of tea upstairs to enjoy whilst watching the TV. We had a fabulous time staying in the Tower and the location is fantastic. Easy parking nearby (free) and the Tower is well-equipped and comfortable. As previous reviews have said, the stairs will be a challenge for some people and small luggage is essential. But we loved it and enjoyed the quirkiness.

Tower is a totally unique and memorable experience. Very spacious, stylish and comfortable accommodation in a fabulous location for views of the town and castle and for easy access for many pubs and restaurants. Parking not a problem but the stone spiral staircase up two levels is definitely challenging.
